i recently computed my bmi and i found it that i am normal yet my bmi is almost near to the value of underweight. physically I'm lean (I'm a guy), an I'm wondering how can i gain weight easily? please help me i really want to gain weight..

I've been skinny all my life and now that I'm going 18, I really want to add some mass to my body.

also tips for working out? my mom said that if I worked out earlier, I'm not giving time for my muscles to grow by themselves and maybe I should only start working out at an age of some 20 and above? I'm 5'2" and 17 years old.

what ordinary exercises may help in the weight-gaining process?

maybe you can also give me tips to increase my height. :)

  1. The key ingredient to gaining muscle mass is to add lots of PROTEIN to your daily diet. You should have 1.0-1.5 grams of protein for each pound you weigh. Protein helps your body to build lean muscle after your workout. Speaking of workout, I would start with simple toning exercises (low weight/more reps) to get your muscles used to being worked. After about 2 weeks you can go to the strengthening exercises (high weight/low reps). This will break down your muscles fast and with all the protein in your diet, when they heal it will be solid lean muscle mass. Muscle weighs alot more than fat.

  3. Try drinking Ensure.  Eat a balanced diet, get enough sleep & exercise.  Drink two tall glasses of milk a day.  Slow down a little & stop being fidgety & worrying about insignificant things.

  4. Eat a lot, about 5-6 times a day. You should try to take in an extra 2000 (or so) calories a day.  Start taking protein supplements (ex. whey protein).  Weight train as much as you can but don't forget about the cardio or else your increased food intake will be stored as fat.  Gaining weight will not be easy for you but you have to start somewhere, good luck!
