A local bidder he says he'll give me $600 cash now in person, he has 1 feedback rating. I'm selling my camera on ebay for $550 to start, a bit low, while there are four days left on the auction with no bids yet. What are possible downfalls of agreeing? I really appreciate all input.

  1. If eBay finds out that this has happened, both your accounts could be stopped.  This is against eBay rules.  If your price is low, bidding will bring it up.  Right now, you're only risking $50 if you turn him down but you might be losing much more by not letting the bidding process run it's course.

A quick search on the net shows this camera going for from $900 to $1,200.  Yeah, he's trying to get a real good deal for himself at your expense.

  2. DO NOT DO IT, he is a CROOK!

  3. Trust your instinct, and if your writing this then you have a bad vibe already, he could meet you and take the camera w/o paying you a dime, it could be counterfeit money, circumstances can change real fast. NEVER let him/her come to your home,,take someone else with you if you decide to do this. Tell him you'll meet him on your terms like the local police station but you want a copy of his drivers license first so you know who your dealing with.

If your from PA I can give you a link to check his criminal background.

Its hard to say now a days, just cover your ***.  Be carefull.

  4. For one thing, it's against ebay's rules to do what he's asking.  For another, it sounds really fishy and man, those crooks are sooo creative.

  5. Tell him to bid like everyone else, and if he wins you will not charge shipping if he pays you cash, and meets you at nearest McDonald's, or similar place for pickup.

  6. I wouldn't trust this person, and I'm guessing it's probably some sort of scam.  You never know what is going to happen if you go to meet them, and it could end up being more trouble than it's worth (not to mention dangerous).

  7. The camera could be worth far more than $600.

Tell the person that since you listed it on eBay, you prefer to let the auction run.  If he wins, he can pay cash when he picks the camera up in person.
