  1. First answerer makes a very common mistake, but it renders his answer meaningless.  Energy isn't measured in kilowatts, it's measured in kilowatt-HOURS (kilowatts TIMES hours, not kW divided by hours).

    The Tesla Roadster supposedly uses about 210 watt-hours per mile, so 100 miles would require about 21 kWh.  Other vehicles (and different driving styles) would use more or less, but that's a reasonable ballpark figure.


  2. Energy is rated in KW/Hour. A good Electric car will be about 4 KWH. That is a lot of power for batteries. That is why the Volt is having problems. My electric car engine subcools the batteries, uses superconductor motor and a fly wheel to convert torque. Check it out at CoolingEarth.org
