Question:

An electrical problem with transaxle???

I ran out of gas this morning (1/2 block away from the gas station!!!) and once I filled it back up and started it, the check engine light was on and the "O/D Off" light was flashing.

I read the owner's manual (I have a 2000 Kia Spectra) and it said the when the O/D off light flashes, it indicates an electrical problem with the transaxle.

I don't even know what that means! Is there a way to fix it without taking it to a Kia dealer? Will this cost a lot of money? Ugghhh..

Thanks guys!

  1. KIA... have lots of glitches in those years disconnect the positive battery cable for 10 minutes then reconnect it and see if the lights still flashing....if it is check the fuses if that's not it you need some professional help

  2. try this disconnect batt terminal  for 5 min

    then put it back on

    may reset computer

  3. It is a KIA what is manufacture date 10/18/2000 it has a trouble service bulletin for random DTC for no reason. Does the car drive ok if so drive it a few days see if it goes out. If it stays on you get to go to the dealer.
