  2. Uh, you forgot most of your question.  Also it's pretty rare that someone would make $5 an hour in the UK where you posted - he'd probably be paid in pounds there.

    Try again.  Or just do your own homework - this doesn't sound like the start of a very hard question.

  4. well if you use the fact that he might have worked the overtime for the same pay rate then he made $225 but you didnt finish the question. it's easy to figure out use the equation:



    (40 times 5)+(5x)

    -the 40 times 5 is to figure out how much he got paid for his regular amount of work

    - 5x is to figure out the 5 hrs he worked times the unknown   (or "x" amount)  payrate the overtime

  5. 40 hours times $5.00  = $200.00

    5 hours at $7.50 (time and a half) = $37.50

    Total before taxes = $237.50

    Total after taxes = $00.75
