  1. These are all common compounds

    H2O --> water

    NaCl --> sodium chloride (table salt)

    NaHCO3 --> sodium bicarbonate (baking powder)

    KOH --> potassium hydroxide

    H2SO4 --> sulfuric acid

    Fe3O2 --> ferric oxide (rust)

    CH3CH2OH --> ethanol (grain alcohol)

    If you want a bit more exotic:

    LiALH4 --> lithium aluminium hydride

    BeCr2O7 --> berillium dicromate

    KMnO4 --> potassium permanganate

  2. Ionic or Covalent compound? [Please remember that all the numbers are subscripts (smaller than the actual letters and written at a lower level)]

    For Ionic: H2SO4 (Sulphuric Acid), or CaCO3 (Calcium Carbonate).

    For covalent, Maltose (two glucose sugars joined by a glycosidic bond. Formula:C6H22O11), or Chloroform (Trichloromethane. Formula: CCl3).
