An explosion occurs when Mentos combine with Diet Coke. What happens if combined in one's stomach?

I think the UTube reaction occurred in his mouth. Long before I knew of this, I drank Diet Coke with Mentos at work, probably for over a year and nothing happened. That is why I wanted to know if something internal may have happened without my knowing. i.e. damage to stomach lining or esophagus..etc.

They would vomit it back up if they actually managed to swallow it.

It's not an explosion. The Mentos start to dissolve, and that that causes all the carbon dioxide that was dissolved in the Coke to drop out of the solution and turn into gas.

Most likely, you would vomit everything back up again. I'm not sure if it could really injure you.

Very little happens.  The reaction you see to release gas occurs because there are only diet coke and mentos present.  But remember, your stomach is full of acid.  If you put the diet coke or mentos in first, it changes the environment greatly when the other is added so you don't explode.  It would be very hard to set the correct situation up in normal circustances where they hit the stomach at the exact same second.

Mythbusters tried very hard but didn't make any bad things happen.  You would be in no doubt if there was a problem.
