  1. I can't write you a debate.

However, I can give you a little more information on that phrase.

A lot of people quote "An eye for an eye" because it comes from the Bible.  The Bible used it in reference for punishment for proven crimes in the judicial system the Israelites lived by.  In that context, it meant that the criminal was to pay equal punishment for his crime.  If he stole property, he was to replace it.  If he destroyed something he had to pay for it.  Equal punishment for the crime.  But it also referred to convicted criminals.

However, many people take this out of context, and use it to justify revenge.  "An eye for an eye," they'll say, as they do something they know is wrong out of anger directed towards someone else.  They are telling themselves that it's okay to do something horrible to someone else because they were wronged first.

Because of this mentality, a new phrase came about.  "An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind."  This new phrase tells us that yes, we may have been wronged, but if we do something horrible in return, it'll just make things worse.  It's not right to take petty or dangerous revenge, just because we were hurt.  It's better to forgive, forget and move on as much as is possible.
