I am considering dumping Comcast because the price keeps going up. AT&T has offered me pretty much the same package I have with Comcast, but for $40.00 less per month.

Do you really have trouble with Satellite when the weather gets bad. Is it worth it.

  1. The weather has to be be pretty close to severe for it to actually affect the signal. I have never ONCE had an issue with weather affecting my reception. Dump Comcast, it has to be the worst of all cable/satellite providers. The previous poster said to go with Verizion Fios...only problem with Fios is that its HIGHLY unavailable in most of the US currently. It runs on pure fiber optic cable, which they have to re-run in your neighborhood. Check on their website http://www.verizion.com to see if you're in a qualifying area. Chances are, you're not, but if you're lucky enough to be, go with Fios, otherwise I would recommend DirecTV.

  2. I had Dish Network.  I had the occasional blackout when the weather was really bad, but that didn't happen very often.

  3. Go with Verizon FIOS tv.

My family had Dish Network first but then switched to Direct Tv. We still have it and it is great and all but the problem is the Bad weather issue. Thats the problem with satellite tv. Fios on the other hand is some type of cable service. The only problem with them is that they have to install a black box somewhere outside your house. But I would gladly do that. The reason I am not switching is because my dad runs the show on household decisions (19 but with considerable knowledge).

FIOS is WAY better then both of the previously stated networks by a large margin as seen in Consumer Reports.

    Bottom Line:

As an employee at best buy who sells Direct tv service and as a customer of it (have the DVR), and as a person who looks into this stuff, GO WITH FIOS.

Best part about it is that it is not Satellite.

  4. Most of the time when I have a problem is when the weather is really really bad. Bad enough I should not be watching TV anyway. I should be seeking shelter.

This does not happen often, once or twice a year.

  5. Satellite TV is awesome, I have been a DirecTV subscriber for about 10 years.  The only problem I have really had is when the weather is really really really bad, but it is very rare, almost not even worth mentioning rare, but it does happen.

The picture quality will blow away Comcast, and they have way more HD channels.  Go with Sat.

  6. the only time i have had a problem was with a really bad storm, it was so windy trees were falling
