The legendary Indian batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Chinnadupargea-Sachin-c50607, Ganguly and Kumble’s stature has been an honour and privilege.
Addressing a press conference in Bangalore, the veteran No. 3 batsman said that he was fortunate to play in an era which saw Indian cricket touching the pinnacle of world cricket.
"It has been a honor and privilege to play with a galaxy of stars like Srinath, Ganguly, Bhajji, Sachin, Kumble,” said an emotional Dravid.
“Fortunate to play in an era which was a pretty successful for Indian cricket. For me to be sharing a dressing room with them is an absolute privilege," he added further.
Dravid made his Test debut in 1996, against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 at Lord’s, and went on to play 164 Test matches before bidding farewell to the game today, March 9, 2012 at the ripe age of 39. In 164 matches, he scored 13288 runs, the second highest Test run aggregate

The right-handed batsman made his One Day International debut in 1996 as well, against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Singapore-c3005, and played his last one-dayer in 2011 against England at Cardiff. During an ODI career spanning 15 years, Dravid played 344 One Day Internationals
scoring 10889 runs at an average of 39.16.
Dravid, also known as ‘the Wall’, was the leading run scorer in Test cricket last year, compiling a tally of 1145 runs at an average of 57.25. The season saw him notching up five centuries and four half centuries.
India will not play a Test match in the next six to seven months, and Dravid said that he did not want to drag his retirement any further. He hopes that his fans will respect and appreciate his decision.
"I was playing the game for the right reasons. I haven't woken up one fine day and decided that's it. It has come after a lot of thought. I didn't feel the need to drag it on any further," said Dravid.
