2011 comes with a flourish for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Simon-James-Marshall-c90362 feels that
batting at number 3 on the Australian top order comes with great responsibility for the player – a spot previously held by veteran http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RT-Ponting-c2377, who grew into becoming one of the world’s finest batsmen.
“It’s very surreal. It’s a huge honour to be batting No.3 for Australia in Test cricket,” said Marsh. “It’s a challenge for me now, it’s a great opportunity and I’m looking forward to cementing that now.”
During Australia’s preceding limited-overs stint against the South African hosts, Marsh retained a consistent, double figure performance throughout the stint; batting 51 runs on the opening 2-match Twenty20 (T20) series, followed by a 30 runs contribution
during his one-off One Day International (ODI) appearance on the third and final fixture against the Proteas.
Having already earned a superb goodwill under the Test format, Marsh will now be seen in action when the Aussie tourists face the Proteas on Wednesday’s opening game, from the 2-match series – where the 28-year-old looks forward to pave another imposing
show against the hosts.
Following his recent participation on the tour game against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 A side, Marsh also added that “Test cricket is the pinnacle and there's no greater feeling than putting a baggy green on your head. I’m not thinking too far ahead because I know if
you do that, it’s a game that can bite you on the bum pretty quickly.”
Following his father, Geoff Marsh’s footsteps; the recently capped player marked an exceptional Test premier during Australia’s second outing against the Lankan hosts. Luckily for Marsh, the left-armed batsman earned his shot at the side’s top order, when
he was called on board to replace Ponting.
Honouring his surprised inclusion on the national roster, Marsh went on to bat an exceptional toll of 141 runs off 315 ball, the second highest score for the match after Michael Hussey’s 142.
