How will you select classes to develop the skills employers expect? What other activities might you engage in during your college experience to develop these skills?

  1. It's most likely that your college will have required classes for your major that will ensure you get the skills you need.  Take it a step further outside of class:  get an internship, join a club or group that uses those skills.  

    For example, I'm an art history major.  I took the required art history classes, got a job at the local art gallery, started a club that buys artwork so that we can learn about the business side of art, and attend any art events I can.  Because I've worked so hard to build all of this, I'm not worried about getting a job, even though every other art history major at my school is.  

    There's clubs for everything--our school even has a small business club for management majors.  Your education is what you make of it, so make the most!
