  1. I don't know if you could learn it in a month, but I'd say Stairway to Heaven is the way to go!

  2. dragonforce!!

  3. How about GREENSLEEVES. . . instrumental fingerpicking.

  4. Sunshine of your love

    Message in a bottle

    Sweet child o' mine

  5. Rofl at KC!

    Dragonforce are impossibly difficult.

Try something that's popular in your area. Solos are always a good bet.

  6. Going Home Mark Knopfler

  7. Ignore the Dragonforce suggestion if you're not particularly skilled because your fingers will end up dropping off and you'll probably strain your retina just attempting to watch them traverse the fretboard!

Is there a particular style that you wish to play in?

A couple of reasonably simple but impressive songs to play would be Ain't Talkin' About Love by Van Halen (metal/hard rock) or Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin as that generally goes down well with a crowd (unless, of course, your audience are employed in guitar shops!).

Iron Maiden are fantastic on a musical level and harmonious, so the majority of their songs involve impressive but reasonably understandable (for a beginner or someone a trifle inexperienced, at least) guitar work. Great if you're daring enough to try one of their solos if you really stick your neck out.

My other, less biased suggestion would be to try a classical piece, but I'd say Stairway to Heaven is the easiest and safest piece to play.

In case you'd rather have a look for yourself (tabs are much easier than reading music) I've provided a link with 100 most popular song to play on the guitar, so now you're spoilt for choice.

If you're not already familiar with guitar tablature then I strongly advise that you assimilate it as it makes riffs and solos very nice to digest.

    Good luck

    Sweet Home Alabama =)
