I need to write a paper on three stocks within one industry. What industry would you suggest to do a research about so it should be interesting and useful?

  1. I think a paper on the banking sector would be very interesting at this time.  Do a paper analyzing the financial stability and soundness of WM, WB, and LEH: and FRE and FNM too.

  2. How about the energy sector? You could do geothernal, wind, solar. How about mining? Molybdinum, cobalt, uranium, precious metals, base metals-- all very interesting. You can do it on great conglamorates like Berkshire Hathaway or GE or Proctor and Gamble or Johnson and Johnson. You could do it on sectors that are failing due to high energy prices--like ford, ge, or the airlines... You could do it on fertilizer companies- like Potash, Terra Industries, Mosaic and the role of fertilizer in modern farming techniques. You could do it on infrastructure and look at companies like Shaw, Jacobs Engineering, and Tetra Tech, Veolia, ABB. You can do it on oil rigs-- and look at companies like RIG (Transocean) and Seagate.

Wow there is so much, and it is all interesting. Start by investigating Yahoo finance, and look up the different sectors. Want a real interesting one? How about banks and the subprime meltdown?

  3. I would do it on green stocks... such as stocks that provide wind turbines and ways to save and reuse energy... Such as Trinity, Clipper Windpower, Broadwind energy, or Otter tail... I feel this sector will be next to soar.
