An inexperienced person replace 2 dimmer switches and a few plugs in my house. Now half my power is out.. help

also the new mercury bulbs are not compatible with dimmer switches, get it done properly,if their is a fire , no insurance payout

There is a good chance that in one of the plugs there is a wire that is not connected properly or not on the s***w, you need to take the plugs out that were replace and make sure all the wires are connected the terminals. TURN THE POWER OFF FIRST

You're lucky he didn't start a fire.

Now you'll have to pay someone,

to correct the problem & do what you wanted.

He obviously didn't know what he was doing,get a knowledgeable person to correct it.

if this happened right after he installed them ,did he shut off your main breaker.if he did theres a chance it only set to 1 phase when re-energized.try turning turning it off and resetting it again

Call a licensed electrician.  And, you can replace these things yourself, go to one of those tutorials given by home-improvement stores.
