An insight on Luke Donald’s 2012 season
Luke Donald, an English golfer from Hertfordshire, is currently one of the most accomplished professional golfers in men's golf.
Donald came into professional circuit in 2001, and has played on both the Professional Golf Association (PGA) Tour and the European Tour.
Of the total fourteen professional wins to his name, Donald has won five on the PGA Tour and seven on the European Tour.
He has also played on the Japanese Tour, where he has grabbed one title after defeating the local golfer Hideki Matsuyama. During the Dunlop Phoenix tournament the Englishman played scinrllating
golf.
He played some amazing rounds of golf and carded an equally splendid result. Donald eventually won the tournament with a five-stroke advantage over his nearest rival.
The 2012 season was not as rewarding for the Englishman as compared to his 2011 season.
The WGC–Accenture Match Play Championship saw the defending champion crash out of the tournament in the first round, leaving the field open for the top contenders to fix horns.
His performance on the major championships has not reflected his talent, although the Englishman has secured respectable places in all four major championships.
His best performance in the Masters Tournament came back in 2005 when he was tied for the third place on the leaderboard.
The U.S. Open is a tournament in which Donald has always wanted to improve his record. His best performance in the tournament was a tie for 12th-place, in 2006.
In the year 2009 and 2012, Donald produced similar results in the Open Championship. He was tied for the 5th place.
The Englishman has not been able to show the same results this time around as he did in the 2011 season. With the likes of Rory McIlroy on the Tour, it is necessary for Donald to stay at the
top of his game in order to remain in contention for the tour titles.
With the Professional Golf Association Tour about to start, the Englishman has to overcome all the hurdles that made him lose his focus during his 2012 season. He also needs to come out as
the same player that has made him one of the best golfers in the world.
