An insight on Rickie Fowler’s professional career
Rickie Fowler, an American professional golfer, is a renowned name on the Professional Golf Association (PGA) Tour.
The 24-year-old turned professional back in 2009 and, since then, has won two tournaments on the professional level.
The American golfer showed immense potential as a youngster and spent most of his early golfing days on the driving range. He is almost completely self-taught.
Golf has been a major part of Fowler’s life as he has been participating in tournaments since his schooling days.
His performance on the major championships has been below average, as he failed to make a mark on any of the championships.
In the 2011 season, Fowler fancied his chance for the AT&T title after he tied the 34-hole lead. What soon followed changed the course of his tournament; he scored a double bogey, which eventually
cost him the title.
A few weeks later, the American professional golfer made his first impression on the major championships, finishing tied for the fifth place.
With a whole new feel to his game and confidence reaching an all-time high, Fowler clinched the second place at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational.
Opening the doors further success, the 24-year-old climbed numerous places in the world golf ranking and got to a respectable 28th place.
He has been part of various charity campaigns, and has worked with numerous players to promote the sport.
The course of his 2012 season does not state impressive stats. Although the golfer has potential to achieve much more than his current records, he still has not come to terms with some of
the grim performances he showed in the past.
Fowler claimed the Wells Fargo Championship title held in Charlotte, North Carolina on May and defeated Rory McIlroy in playoff.
His first win on the PGA Tour was the only highlight of his season.
The American golfer faced stiff competition during the year, giving a hard time to numerous golfers on the Tour. But he failed to rise to the occasion in most cases. In order to live up to
his potential, Fowler will have to come up with a game plan and bag more titles.
The new season is about to commence and there are plenty of expectations from the American golfer.
He is expected to make a mark on the tour this time around. But if he continues with the same level of play that he exhibited the previous season , he will have to face the same consequences
that he faced this year.
Fowler won the Rookie of the Year back in 2010. He edged past the likes of McIlroy, but failed to make any sort of impact on the Tour.
What lies ahead for the American in the next season is a question that can only be answered after the season gets under way.
Patience will be the key for Fowler as he will have to come up with positive results during the season.
