    your the best...

  3. You can use  a old broken box freezer (chest freezer- one that looks like a large tack trunk). That is what we use. It keeps out the mice(or rats) and any animal. You can even apply a lock to it if you need to. Ask around for one or go to a junk yard to find one and clean it out.

  4. Yes its called a container, they come in 20ft or 40ft and they are ideal for storing horse feed in. Contact your local transport company or go to the rail yards, they will be able to direct you to someone that has one for sale. You can also try The Wharf as they deal direct in these containers n a daily basis. Beware though they will have a hefty price tag. Good Luck.

  5. a shed???? or a station wagon....i think you might be right

  6. they are called conex containers and you can rent them or buy one outright.you will need to look in the yellow pages of a large city neer you to find out how much one would cost,i do know they are expensive to buy but they come in handy.

  7. what i used/use to store feed:

my brother's footlocker from army school. it has a lock on it, it's metal, and the feed (for us) never went bad.  it stored about 2-3 50lb bags of sweet feed. (now it stores 2-3 50lb bags of bird food. lol). it is about 4 feet wide, by 6 feet long, and 4-5 feet high. i'm sure that you can find one for cheap at a red/white/blue store (second hand store). i saw one they were selling there for 12 bucks in my area. it wasnt as large as bro's, but it wouldve worked well.

it was the easiest and best thing we've ever come across. (we usually make anything we need.)

we also use metal trash cans, but with those we have to bunji them shut so no other animals get into it (we live on a farm with lots of feed needing stored)  but metal trash cans do work. the  better thing bout the foot locker is that it can be locked easily if you want to.

  8. If you need something to store grain in...an aluminum trash can.

    That's what I use.

If you need the actual shipping container, you can rent or purchase one.  Some places just want to get rid of them and will give them to you.

  9. That's exactly what it is, if you are referring to something that is as large as a medium to large sized trailer.  If I know where you are from, I could google and find you one that you could either buy or rent, they deliver them to you.  They are great to put feed/tack whatever in and lock them up...

  10. yeah a shipping container is what you want at my riding school we have 1 to keep the feed bins and a really big modern one to keep the tack, saddle and helmets in

  11. It's a shipping container, your spot on! & they are brilliant for storing feed, we have 3, 1 for feed, 1 for tack & 1 as my hubby's work shop with whirly gigs & windows.

The best thing about them is they are water & air proof, plus no snakes or vermin can get in.

We stored 50 bales of hay in one for over 12 months & it was as good as the day we bought it when we went to use it!!

I don't know where abouts you live, but I'm in australia & you should expect to pay around $2200 for a 20ft container, plus delivery, most companies who sell them usually have a delivery service you can use, delivery will cost a few hundred depending on distance they have to travel.

You can also get 10ft & 40ft ones, we found that the 20ft was the most practical.

    Good luck :D

Edit: You can rent them, but if you want them for a long period, buying works out cheaper, plus most companies will buy them back off you if you ever don't need them, usually minus 10% of full purchase price if you keep receipt, so it ends up costing you a few hundred dollars!

  12. shipping bin, but metal trash cans work well too.
