An online job application asks other areas of interest , what does that mean?

Right after it asks " Type of employment desired " it asks , other areas of interest.

  1. it could also mean, 'what do you do when you aren't at work?  what can you talk to people about?'  If you work in an office and can talk about coaching your kid's team, or landscape painting or something, you are a complete person. They could also get an idea if you are active or a couch potato, introverted or extroverted, lazy or curious.


  2. It probably means that the job you are applying for might refer you to other jobs that is open. Or, it means that the company needs an employee that may know other arean of interest aside from one are. Example is, if your area is in Engineering, it would ask you what particular area, then Computer Engineering is your forte, it would ask again if it is hardware or software so the company can match the right job for you.

  3. it menas are there other types of positions you would be interested in besides the one you are applying for
