Question:

An oven that eliminates fish smells?

I work part time in a cooking store. A customer told me he had recently visited his in-laws in Korea. He described an oven that his in-laws had which cooks fish with no odor. I got the impression the oven was counter-top, like a toaster oven.

Does anyone know of this product?

  1. Reducing fish smell...

I've never tried this, but supposedly one reason people soak fish in milk or a little vinegared water is to eliminate the fishy smell when you cook.   This could be a fish cooking myth.

In regards to the countertop oven... are you sure it was an oven and not a steamer?

I can see steaming fish lessens the fishy smell dramatically.

If it's a countertop oven, then the oven probably has some type of filter that traps the odor.

  2. It probably exists, but it's probably expensive. Consider using an exhaust fan when you cook if you dislike food smells in the house.
