An overview of CEV European Continental Beach Volleyball Cup 2010
The 2010 CEV Beach Volleyball Tournament Calendar makes its next stop at Montpelleir in France, this week. The double-gender exciting event of European Continental Beach Volleyball Cup 2010 is scheduled to run from 25-26 September, 2010.
The women’s squad includes the teams from the Netherlands, Liechtenstein, France, and Serbia while in men’s section; French teams are joined by the Netherlands, Israel, and Serbia. All these teams are labeled as Pool D with each country having two teams-
one of men’s and the other of women’s.
This would be the seventh qualification round for the 2011 European Beach Volleyball Cup, which is being hosted by France. Likewise, Russia, Malta, Slovenia, Ukraine, Greece and Turkey had hosted the earlier episodes of European Continental Cup.
The organizers along with CEV Supervisor, Tosho Stoyanov of Bulgaria have put in a lot of efforts to make this event a major success. They have set up excellent arrangements for the smooth operation of this campaign. Jean Pierre, the organizing committee
president has also been quite active in this regard.
The teams were supposed to show up on Thursday for the preliminary inquiry and technical meeting but poor weather created a bit of problem for the guest delegations. In addition to this, industrial strikes in the city have added more misery to the whole
scene and consequently delayed the process. So the Serbian and Israeli teams couldn’t arrive on Thursday.
The good thing which happened was that the Netherlands’ delegation arrived on Wednesday. The Dutch teams familiarized with the local climate and started preparing. Their practice would surely provide them a competitive edge in their matches while they certainly
target the top spot in the pool.
Meanwhile, the native French pairs gathered in Montpellier on Tuesday and they seem fully prepared to catch the limelight this time. They have worked hard and look determined to perform better as their fans have many expectations from them. The French teams
seem excited to face the international players on their home soil.
Moreover, the Montpellier Club was established by Michel Laget along with the Athen Olympian, Mathieu Hamel and Stephanne Canet, six years back. They started out with nothing but remained consistent to make it a famous club. Since 2005, it has grabbed a
lot of attention. The four outdoor and two indoor courts have been created with local and Municipality funds.
It now has turned into a fabulous venue and has more than 250 members. The club is recognized as the leading structure for Beach Volleyball in France. CEV has selected this venue for the European Continental Cup, which is obviously a great achievement for
the founders.
While commenting on this, Leget said, “For us, it’s a nice reward for all the hard work. Times are still not easy as we do not always receive the support we expect. However to be able to organize such an event is making us happy and is a nice achievement.
Together with our partners, we want to create one of the best centers for Beach Volley Ball. The road is still long but I am sure we will succeed as we truly love this sport.”
Parc de la Rauze Sports Hall has been selected for the play which has a capacity of 400 spectators. The final of CEV European Continental Cup 2010 will take place on Sunday, 26th September, 2010 and with it the whole activity would end.
There is just one more qualification round left on 2010 CEV European Beach Volleyball Tournament Calendar. This round will be held at Las Palmas in Spain, next month.
