Ana Carla Carvalho claims Women’s 50m breast-stroke gold title: Day five - 2011 Jose Finkel Trophy
Ana Carla Carvalho of ECP/SABESP claimed the title of Women’s 50m breast-stroke final on the fifth day of the in-progress 2011 Jose Finkel Trophy on Saturday, September 3, in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
The event was dominated by ECP/SABESP squad, as all the top three finishers were representing their team. The 20-year-old Carvalho remained undisputed in the single-lap breast-stroke swim and posted a remarkable time of 32.37 seconds for the gold medal.
She was followed by her team-member and closest competitor, Tatiane Mayumi Sakemi, who remained only 0.60 seconds away from her and reached the podium for silver medal by submitting a time of 32.97 seconds.
In the meantime, their team-member, Beatriz Azzolini Travalon appeared as the third fastest swimmer of the one-lap event, as Travalon stayed only 0.30 seconds behind and touched the finishing wall to conclude her swim in a time of 33.27 seconds for bronze
medal.
Travalon was only 0.13 seconds faster than her following swimmer, Juliana Marangoni Marin of FIAT/MINAS, who ended up fourth by finishing her swim in a time of 33.40 seconds. She was trailed by her team-member, Renata Paula Sander, who was only 0.03 seconds
slower than Marin on the concluding wall and completed her swim with a timing of 33.43 seconds for fifth position.
Subsequently, Alessandra Marchioro of C.CURITIBANO/PR acquired sixth position of the breast-stroke event, as she remained just 0.04 seconds behind Sander and posted a time of 33.47 seconds. Sander’s team-member, Natalia Cardoso Favoreto was sighted as the
seventh position holder of the event, as she clocked touched the finishing wall and ended her swim in a time of 33.78 seconds. The final spot of the race was secured by Marchioro’s team-member, Lais Rodrigues, who remained just 0.06 seconds behind her former
finisher and ended her swim to clock a time of 33.84 seconds.
In addition, Carvalho was happy with her gold winning effort in the breast-stroke discipline, while the winners were placed upon the victory stand to receive their awards and accolades after the session’s completion.
