Ana Ivanovic confesses that the life of tennis player is stressful – Tennis News
Former world number one, Ana Ivanovic, registered another consistent season in 2012. She gathered 37 victories and recorded her best result in the past three years. She also registered a breakthrough in the Grand Slam events by
reaching her first ever quarter-final of the big-four tournament ever since her French Open conquest in 2008. She accomplished that goal at the US Open in New York.
However, there was no addition to the trophy cabinet of the 25-year-old Serb in 2012. The last title she won was in the previous season when she lifted the trophy at Bali. Ivanovic didn’t reach final of any tournament in the current
yesr. However, she stayed consistent with her results apart from some major let-offs, especially the double bagel loss to the lower-ranked Italian star, Roberta Vinci, at the Rogers Cup in Montreal. It was the first 6-0, 6-0 loss of Ivanovic’s professional
career.
Recently, the Serb visited Milan to contest in an exhibition event. She was accompanied by the former world number one, Maria Sharapova, and the best doubles team of the world, Roberta Vinci & Sara Errani. All of them had a great
time at the friendly event. After the exhibition was over, the 13th ranked Ivanovic was contacted by the media reporters of the Italian website ilsussidiario.net who questioned her about the intensity of the play and the life of a tennis player.
Ivanovic answered, “It is intense and there are many obligations away from the court. Sometimes it can be stressful, but it’s important to manage your schedule well. I am fortunate to receive great support from my team, including
my family. They help me to stay grounded, and my management does a good job of helping me manage my time. It’s also important to take a few days off to de-stress once in a while, and actually that’s why I went to Milan before the Fed Cup, to relax and enjoy
some time with family and friends.”
The Serb diva is eyeing to end the title drought in 2013. She also wants to break back into the elite Top-10 category by the end of the following season which will be an immense achievement for someone who has struggled to deliver
in the latter stages of the tours.
