Ana Ivanovic seeks inspiration from Maria Sharapova – Tennis News
Former world number one, Ana Ivanovic, confessed that she is going through tough times; finding it difficult to make it to the advanced stages of big tournaments but she is satisfied by her performance overall. She plans to regroup
and construct a roadmap just like the reigning world number one, Maria Sharapova, to break back into the Top-10 players of the world.
Ivanovic won the French Open in 2008 and was the world’s best tennis player among women at that time. She was absolutely devastating but soon found herself surrounded by injuries and her game just witnessed a major slump. However,
she has created a strong mark this season; winning important matches but the slice of luck hasn’t been on her side.
The 24-year-old Serb has not cleared the fourth round in the 16 different editions of Grand Slam being played since her major triumph in 2008. She is currently ranked 14 in the world but it seems like she is just remembered for
her gorgeous figure and not her landmark achievements.
On Sharapova’s triumph at the French Open this month, Ivanovic stated, “It's definitely inspiring to see what Maria has done. Hard work pays off sooner or later. That's why it's important to keep at it. You get what you deserve
basically. I've been working hard and I've been feeling much better on the court. I know good things are around the corner. Seeing Maria, do well and other players getting better and getting their rankings higher up, it definitely inspires me."
She further added, “I remember playing her in the junior final Wimbledon on Court 18. It's going to be a tough match, a lot different than today's one. I just want to try and recover the best I can today and come fresh tomorrow."
Ivanovic is in the hunt to claim a Grand Slam Championship for four years now. However, this is her time to shine and prove to the world that she is not just a scintillating dive but also an excellent tennis professional. She is
in the third round of the Wimbledon Championships and faces the German beauty queen, Julia Goerges, on the eve of Saturday.
