Ana Ivanovic trying to regain lost form
Fans and admirers supporting Ana Ivanovic are waiting to see their black haired star back in action with her full form on the courts of tennis.
During the early stages of her career, the 22-year-old Ana played pretty well and thus gained a couple of important successes. As a result, the right-handed player was soon considered to be one of the finest tennis players between 2007 and 2008 for the women’s side.
It was in 2003 when the 1.83 meters tall Serb decided to take up professional tennis. After intensive training, she became popular within no time particularly due to her aggressive style of play as well as her powerful serving quality.
The Serbian tennis ace reached the number one position for the first time in her career after her clay court French Open victory back in 2008. However, sadly for the young player, she couldn’t stay there for long and her rankings drastically fell as she failed to handle the pressure as well as the expectations of her fanciers.
Therefore, after her French Open victory, Ana couldn’t carry on with her winning momentum and lost a couple of important matches right after holding her clay court title. A series of defeats one after the other badly affected her confidence level and as a result the ranking of the Serb kept on falling.
The most badly affected area of her game as a result of her back-to-back defeats was her serving quality that used to be a hot topic of discussion in terms of its power and strength.
As far as Ana’s performances throughout this season are concerned, she did start pretty well by making her way into the semi-finals at Brisbane. At the Australian Open Championship, the Serbian tennis ace was seeded at the number 20 spot. Eventually, she was knocked out by Gisela Dulko with a score of 6-7, 7-5 and 6-4. Once again, her serve was a major reason behind her failure.
Talking about the Paribas Open competition, Ana was dismissed in her very first match and a result of a total of four defeats in a row, the former number one Serbian tennis sensation fell out of the top fifty ATP world rankings for the very first occasion since 2005.
However, the good thing about this young Serbian star was that she never gave up and thus performed pretty well in Rome where she made her way to the semifinals. She successfully knocked down Elena Dementieva, Victoria Azarenka as well as Nadia Petrova in the tournament.
In spite of the fact that Ivanovic was knocked down by the ultimate winner Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez, the championship result reflected major improvements not only in her serve quality but in her confidence levels as well.
Currently, Heinz Gunthardt is serving as Anna’s coach who has ably supported the player in times of trouble. In one of her recent interviews, Ana gave full marks to Heinz Gunthardt for the betterment of her game as well as her improved state of mind.
Since Rome, Ivanovic however has not reached the later round of any tournament. However, she is working hard to improve her game and regain her lost charm. In a more recent clash, Ana knocked down Russia’s tennis ace Alisa Kleybanova in her very first match at the Bank of the West Classic, held in Stanford. Her serve played a major role in her victory beyond any doubt.
Ana is required to regain her top twenty spot in order to play major tournaments around the world. There is certainly no doubt about the fact that the Serb has all the tools to once again climb to the top. All she needs to do is to focus on her serve quality that used to be her biggest weapon in her heydays. Her admirers all around the world are anxiously waiting to see their star once against standing out on the courts with her outstanding exhibition of tennis.
With Heinz Gunthardt providing full support, Ana Ivanovic seems pretty confident. However, only when she learns the art of tackling pressure situations without faltering will Ana triumph for a longer period of time.
