Ana Rovita breaks into main round of Women’s Singles event – Indonesia Open Update
Ana Rovita gave her country mates a solid reason to celebrate as she powered her way to main round of Women’s Singles event of Djarum Indonesia Open on Tuesday, June 12, 2012.
The victorious lady overwhelmed her compatriot Lindaweni Fanetri in final tussle of qualifying round in Istora Senayan Stadium of Jakarta.
This all-Indonesia contest remained in full swing for one hour and 17 minutes and both local shuttlers put all in their possession to secure the honour but Ana Rovita managed to register favourable result of 17-21, 21-19 and 22-20.
In opening game of the match, World Number 60 Lindaweni utilised all the experience and brilliance in the game and pushed lower ranked rival in all areas of court.
She built pressure by pocketing valuable points steadily in her expedition to 7 and then doubled the impact by dominating four consecutive rallies.
She raised her total to 11 while her competitor was standing far behind at 6 until mid-game break. This early advantage allowed her to enter second half in high spirit and she capitalised this masterly.
Lindaweni made difference by registering 17-12 margin in final moments and this gap was never covered by the opposing player as she surrendered after reading 21-17 score on the board.
However, Ana did not remain at lower end for much long as she managed to rise on her toes in very next game.
The underrated but talented Indonesian girl proved her mettle by giving tough time to the opponent. She started second set with great confidence and remained equal until 7-7.
At this point she pushed Lindaweni on back foot with four power packed rallies just before the interval.
Later part of the game turned a cliff-hanging contest as Ana Rovita and the other native shuttler remained toe-to-toe until 19-19 but former survived this battle with tight yet decisive margin of 21-19.
This revised status made third set consequential and both female shuttlers showed admirable fighting spirit but Lindaweni Fanetri could not counterbalance her challenger’s determination in final moments.
Ana Rovita stole the limelight with a lustrous performance and piled up a winning total of 22-20.
