Anaerobic Digestion Question, complte mix digester?

I read in my reseaerch "Location: A complete-mix digester can be located within a 600 ft radius of the mix tank at a convenient location with good access." Why does the "600 ft radius" apply, can the mix tank not be positioned directly beside the digester? If not, why?

It can be positioned by the digester.  It just says you shouldn't put it more than 600 feet from the digester.
