Has anyone else had similar problem? Dental anaesthetic doesnt 'take' in my lower right jaw I had filling today which was total agony despite numerous injections and the best efforts of my dentist. I'm led to believe that I have unusal nerve pathways in my mouth. I read somewhere that there is a special block you can get for this problem but you have to hunt around for it as most dentists dont do it. Id be glad to hear from anyone who has had a similar experience - all I can say is ouch that hurt lol.

  1. I was glad to see this. In my left side lower jaw they are not able to numb and each time they do not believe me until they start treatment. This last time the pain was atrocious i scremed . It felt like she had burned me. Previously I have had a filling with no drills being picked at by hand but it has broken. They make me feel as if i am mental but i know things have never connected properly I have suffered with loss of feeling onthis side and no proper diagnosis has ever been given. Also epidural seemed to not respon after many attempts. I have not heard of a blocker so thanks. I am not able to be sedated due to blood clot problems. Be careful i wander if this is why we function differently!! Thank you

  2. While it's certainly not cheap, there are other options.  Perhaps the most easily accessible option is total anesthesia - literally being knocked out w/ drugs.  While it's typically only used for more invasive procedures (root canals, tooth pulling, etc), it can be used in cases of extreme anxiety or sensitivity for more "day to day" dental needs.
