Anaheim Ducks 2009 Entry Draft prospect Kyle Palmieri hopes to play bigger role next season
Last season, Anaheim Ducks 2009 National Hockey League (NHL) Entry Draft pick, Kyle Palmiere, managed to play his first 10 games with his original draft team, but failed to impress which ultimately lead to his ousting. After a spectacular performance in
the minor league and training camp, he hopes on striking a bigger role with the club, once the season starts in October.
Selected 26th overall by Anaheim in 2009, Palmiere has been focusing on improving himself and working hard towards becoming NHL materiel ever since. Now having played two years with University of Notre Dame in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association
(CCHA), U.S.A World Junior Championship team along with Syracuse Crunch in the American Hockey League (AHL), Palmieri finally thinks he is ready to take on the major league.
"It was definitely a very long year", Palmieri said, about playing for Syracuse. "I've never played anywhere near 80, 85 games in a year. I wasn't used to playing three games a week. I think going back and forth between different things is tough. But it's
one of those things you have to deal with".
During the 2009-2010 season, the Smithtown, New York, United States native, played 33 games with Notre Dame hockey team and registered a normal 17 points (9 goals, 8 assists) along with 36 penalty minutes. Palmiere also appeared in seven games with the USA
World Junior Championship team in which he managed to contribute nine points (1 goal, 8 assists).
The following season with Syracuse Crunch truly brought out the shooter in Palmieri as he put up an amazing 51 points (29 goals, 22 assists) in 62 games played.
After an amazing regular season in the AHL, Syracuse Crunch assistant general manager, Bob Ferguson, does not have a single doubt about his playing abilities.
"There's an opening for a right-handed forward up there", Bob Ferguson said in statement describing Palmieri and his viewpoint on the young player’s evolution. "I don't think there's any question he will play in the NHL someday and be a key member of Anaheim".
It will be exciting to see whether Kyle Palmieri will be seen on the ice with Ducks or if he will spend another season in the minor league.
