Anaheim Ducks Bobby Ryan staying with Anaheim Duck and happy being in California -NHL Update
Bobby Ryan though it was unfortunate that he had to come out himself and kill off rumours about Anaheim Ducks initiating a trade after the player reportedly demanded one following another disappointing National Hockey League (NHL) regular season.
Anaheim Ducks might not have managed to make the playoffs despite having a star studded club with a number of All-Stars shining up the night, but that did not mean Bobby Ryan was contemplating a trade.
Talking to the Orange County Register on Wednesday, Ryan explained how some words that came out of his mount were termed to be his frustration. According to him, being distressed over something does not mean that he would have wanted a trade, rather it was
frustration that would lead him to perform better next time around.
"I just told [the reporter], at this point, I'm tired of fielding questions [about being traded]," Ryan said. "I'm tired of asking. Just move me if that's what the best interest of your team is. And if you think it's in the best interest for me, great. I'm
OK with that.”
"But about 10 minutes after the interview, I was like, 'Gosh, I shouldn't have done that, seeing that I'm teeing off on the 37th hole of the day after 11 o'clock.' It was kind of stupid.”
"I was happy to come home," Ryan added.
Bobby Ryan was selected as the second overall prospect back in round-one of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft by the Anaheim Ducks and has remained a part of the team ever since. It was definitely surprising to many after hearing that he could be traded soon and
that too, after demanding it to happen. But after playing 332 games with a single club and potting 259 point (136 goals, 123 assists), it is definitely hard to leave without thinking twice.
Next season is one that Bobby Ryan and the whole Anaheim Ducks team are certainly looking forward to and having a strong level of chemistry between them is crucial to it being one that they will remember.
For now, players are training and fans are waiting, but the question still remains, will there be hockey next season or a lockout?
