Anaheim Ducks Teemu Selanne inclining towards coming back for another season –NHL News Update
National Hockey League (NHL) legendary player, Teemu Selanne, is slowly inclining towards playing another season in the major league after a recent interview with a local newspaper but still has doubts on whether it would be a good idea or not.
Blaming the decision, which he has set to be announced officially by him on September 16, on his knee, which will be the ultimate deciding factor if it will allow him to play or not is the primary concern for his at the moment.
That is why it should not be a surprise when hearing that the 41-year-old is still working out and training four to five times a week.
"I'm doing rehab now. Long days: skate, work out and then I go to the physical therapist. I'm skating four-five times a week, because I want to be sure. I'll have to make a decision between now and start of training camp", Selanne updated the media on his
fitness program.
Although Selanne is back in Orange County and is hopeful for his return next season, which just might be a possibility, but there are other concerns as well, which include last moment injuries, which would not only cut his optimistic season short but could
cause long term problems as well.
“We talked a couple of times and we had lunch with Bob Murray (Ducks GM) to talk about it”, Selanne said. “I was hoping PK could play one more year, but he told me all the stories about the problems he’s had (related to concussions). There are more important
things than hockey”.
Over a span of 18 years in the NHL, Selanne, a Finnish superstar, has established his name as one of the best to have ever graced the league. No matter how good he has played throughout his career, he has managed to score only one Stanley Cup back in 2007,
which is another motivational factor for his return.
Eyeing Anaheim returning to being one of the best teams with the comeback of Jonas Hiller and such players; it might not be such a bad idea after all.
