Anaheim Ducks avoid arbitration; re-sign Nick Bonino for two more years at NHL
American hockey professional, Nick Bonino, has re-signed with Anaheim Ducks of Pacific Division of the National Hockey League (NHL). 24 years-old Nick Bonino signed the contract which would keep him with Anaheim Ducks for two more seasons and it was done
for $1.4 million i.e. $700,000 for each year.
With this signing Nick Bonino and Anaheim Ducks also avoided the arbitration hearing which was scheduled on Friday 3rd of the August.
Nick Bonino had decided to go to the arbitration hearing to get his salary increased. He was one of the 16 players who had taken this step and elected to go to arbitration on 5th of the July.
Other 15 players were Jamie McGinn, Colorado Avalanche, Richard Bachman, Dallas Stars, Mark Fistric, Dallas Stars, Kyle Quincey, Detroit Red Wings, Sam Gagner, Edmonton Oilers, Kris Versteeg, Florida Panthers, Raphael Diax, Montreal Canadiens, Sergei Kostitsyn,
Nashville Predators, Mark Fayne, New Jersey Devils, Anton Stralman, New York Rangers, Kaspars Daugavins, Ottawa Senators, T.J. Oshie, St. Louis Blues, David Perron, St. Louis Blues, T.J. Galiardi, San Jose Sharks, Dale Weise, Vancouver Canucks.
Nick Bonino has become third of those 16 players to have settled the matter without arbitration hearing. Before him David Perron had solved the issue by signing with St. Louis Blues and T.J. Galiardi had get it done by signing a deal with San Jose Sharks.
The 24-year-old American centre (born on 20th of the April 1988) had a very good season with Anaheim Ducks last year, which should be called his best season in the NHL after a very disappointing first season 2010-2011. He had not managed a single
goal or a single assist, earning him not even a single point in the first season even though he was given enough chances, 26 to be precise.
But last year he got on the scoring sheet and took his points tally into double figures after playing 50 games. He had scored 5 goals, 13 assists and total number of 18 points in the last season.
Born in Unionville, Connecticut, U.S.A, Bonino started his hockey career while he was at Boston Universoty and played three years for them until he was brought to Anaheim Ducks, his present team.
