Anaheim Ducks defeat the Calgary Flames 5-4 in over-time – NHL Recap
The Anaheim Ducks beat the Calgary Flames 5-4 in over-time at the Honda Centre on Sunday. The game was important for both teams, as they are in a very tight battle for the final few National Hockey League play-off spots in the Western Conference. The Flames
are in the 10th position, while the Ducks are in the 8th position and a win for either team will help them a great deal.
The game started off with the Ducks piling up early pressure, as they managed to score and get into the lead. The Ducks scored once again a few minutes later to double their lead. Their constant offensive threat saw them scoring once again. The Flames were
able to score a goal to trail by two goals at the end of the period. The second period saw the Flames score twice during the period to level the score on 3-3. The final 20 minutes of play saw both teams scoring a goal apiece, forcing the game into over-time.
The Ducks scored in over-time to win the game 5-4 with Corey Perry named the Star of the Game, as he scored two goals and came up with an assist.
The Ducks were on top of their game right from the start of the proceeding and it did not wait too long to score through Ryan Getzlaf from a well placed flick-shot to get into the lead. The Ducks kept on piling on the pressure and they scored in the fourth
minute through Corey Perry from a tip-in shot to double their lead.
Putting constant pressure, the Ducks scored once again in the sixth minute through Francois Beauchemin to go ahead by three goals. The Flames also started to create a few chances at the start and scored in the 19th minute through Tom Kostopoulos.
The period ended with the Ducks leading 3-1, as the Ducks made 9 shots on goal, as the Flames managed 12 attempts.
The second period saw the Flames on top at the start, as they scored in the 9th minute through Rene Bourque from a tip-in shot. The Flames scored once again in the 17th minute through Kostopoulos to level the scores.
The period ended with the score level on 3-3 and the Flames making 13 shots on goal while the Ducks managed 9.
The Flames scored in the 8th minute through Captain Jarome Iginla from a well placed flick-shot. The Ducks managed to score in the 18th minute through Teemu Selanne to level the score. There were no further goals, as the regulation
time ended with the score level on 4-4.
The game went into over-time, where Corey Perry scored to win the game 5-4 in the third minute.
