Anaheim Ducks defeat the Dallas Stars 4-3 in over-time – NHL Recap
The second last game of Wednesday was hosted by the Dallas Stars at the American Airlines Arena, but it was the Anaheim Ducks who won the game 4-3 in over-time. The game saw both teams fight it out, as they needed to win the game if they want to cement and
assure their position in the National Hockey League play-off cut.
The game started off with both teams firing a couple of shots on goal, but like the other games, there were no goals in the opening 20 minutes of play. The second period began with the Ducks on fire, as they scored to get into the lead. The Stars were able
to bounce back and scored to level the game. The final period saw both teams coming out strong, as they scored twice during the period to level the score 3-3 at the end of regulation time. The Ducks managed to score in over-time to win the game 4-3. Cam Fowler
of the Ducks was named the Star of the Game, as he scored the winning goal and came up with an important assist.
Both teams made a decent start to the game which saw them coming up with shots on goal. There were a couple of scoring chances for both teams, but they were unable to capitalise from the start and find the back of the net.
The Stars got better and were stronger of the two teams when it came to the offence, during the later stages of the game. The period ended with the score level on 0-0. During the course of the period, the Ducks made 6 shots on goal while the Stars managed
9 attempts.
The second period began with the Ducks exploding at the start of the period and scored in the very first minute through Lubomir Visnovsky from a powerful strike to get into the lead. The Stars were not far behind and they created several chances for themselves,
before they finally scored to level the game.
The goal was scored by Alex Goligoski from a powerful strike in the 10th minute. The period ended with the score level on 1-1 with the Stars making 7 shots on goal while the Ducks managed 12 attempts.
The final 20 minutes of play saw the Stars scoring in the 5th minute to get into the lead with Loui Eriksson. However, the Ducks scored in the very same minute to level the score. The goal was scored by Corey Perry. The Stars scored once again
in the 14th minute through Trevor Daley to get back into the lead.
The Ducks, with some strong plays, managed to score once again in the final minute through Teemu Selanne to level the score 3-3. The game went into over-time, where the Ducks scored through Cam Folwer to win the game 4-3 in the end.
