Anaheim Ducks extend Coach Bruce Boudreau's deal through 2015 -NHL Update
Anaheim Ducks expressed confidence in their new head coach, Bruce Boudreau, by extending his original two year deal by another two seasons, which would keep him on the California based team well through the 2014-2015 National Hockey League (NHL) regular
season.
The financial terms and conditions of his contract were not officially disclosed by the Anaheim Ducks who made the announcement on Thursday, May 10, 2012.
"This team, we've just started going where we want to go," Boudreau said. "If we had started a little bit earlier, anything could have happened. These playoff teams, we competed with all these teams, going tooth and nail."
Replacing former head coach, Randy Carlyle, early in the season after he was fired by the Washington Capitals, Boudreau has not been able to make a major and immediate impact like Dale Hunter and Ken Hitchcock might have made on the Capitals and St. Louis
Blues team respectively, but Anaheim believes next season will be theirs.
Being in a place where hockey is generally not that big compared to other sports like basketball and baseball, Boudreau is also optimistic on the opportunity to help it grow.
"I'm happy in the sense that I think it'll grow hockey in Southern California with the attention (if the Kings advance)," Boudreau added. "For me, it's really important for the growth of the game. But I've got to be honest, I don't think I'm going to sit
here and say I'm happy they're going to win."
Anaheim Ducks have had a longer than usual offseason to overcome their weaknesses, but in order to do that, they have to define and identify them first of all. Now, as the Anaheim Ducks general manager and president have expressed faith in Bruce Boudreau,
the head coach can focus on doing his job in the best way possible.
"It's always great that the GM and ownership have that much faith in you, and it's my job to justify it," Boudreau said on Twitter.
Seeing Boudreau behind the Anaheim Ducks bench for the next three seasons, it will definitely be exciting to see how the team and coach work together to revolutionise their performance.
