Anaheim Ducks fight their way back to win 4-3 in over-time against the Dallas Stars – NHL Recap
The Anaheim Ducks managed to fight their way back and defeat the Dallas Stars 4-3 in an exciting over-time game at the Honda Centre on Friday. The game was crucial for both teams, as a win for either would give important points to close the gap in the National
Hockey League standings.
The Ducks made a decent start to the game which saw them scoring in the middle part of the period to get into the lead. The Stars outplayed the Ducks in the second period, as they led 3-1. The Ducks came up with a splendid performance and scored twice to
level the match. The game went into over-time, where the Ducks scored once again to win the game 4-3 in the end. Lubomir Visnovsky was named the Star of the Game, as he scored a hat-trick and made an assist.
The Ducks started off the stronger of the two teams, as they made several goal attempts. The Stars also came up with some decent strikes in between, but they were unable to score any goals. The Ducks, with their strong offence in the period and the backing
of the crowd scored through Lubomir Visnovsky to get into the lead in the 10th minute.
The Ducks were the dominating force in the period, but they were not able to find the back of the net, as the period ended with the Ducks leading 1-0. During the course of the period, the Ducks made 12 goal attempts while the Stars came up with six shots
on goal.
The second period started off on a high for the Stars who scored immediately in the third minute through Jamie Benn’s tip-in shot to level the scores. The Stars continued to attack and successfully scored in the 11th minute through Adam Burish
from a powerful strike to get into the lead.
The Stars completed a dominating performance in the period with another goal in the 19th minute which was scored by Loui Eriksson from an amazing strike during the power-play. The period ended with no further goals, as the Stars made 15 goal attempts
and the Ducks managed only 5. The Stars led 3-1 at the end of the period.
The final period of the game saw the Ducks coming up with a fighting performance that saw them scoring in the sixth minute through Lubomir Visnovsky during the power-play to trail by a single goal. The Ducks managed to score at the death to level the scores.
The goal was scored by Teemu Selanne from a simple tip-in shot, as the period ended with the scores level on 3-3. The game went into over-time, where Visnovsky scored once again in the fifth minute to seal the win 4-3 for the Ducks.
