Anaheim Ducks level the series with a 5-3 win over the Nashville Predators – NHL Play-offs Update
The Anaheim Ducks defeated the Nashville Predators 5-3 in the second game of the National Hockey League quarter-final to level the series at the Honda Centre on Friday.
The game was important for the Ducks as they needed to win and not let the Predators run away with the lead. In the end, they won the game and successfully tied the series 1-1.
The game began with both teams on the money from the start, as they made a couple of shots on target. The Ducks were rewarded early as they scored twice to establish a strong lead as the period ended. The Predators successfully scored at the start of the
second period, but the Ducks scored two goals to extend their lead even further. The Predators got close to Anaheim and scored two goals in the final period, but the Ducks sealed the game with another goal in the end to win 5-3. Ryan Getzlaf, Captain of the
Ducks was named the Star of the Game, as he scored a goal and made two assists.
The Ducks were the stronger of the two teams at the start of the game and came across an early power-play. This resulted in the Ducks scoring in the sixth minute through Corey Perry to get into the lead from a powerful strike.
Anaheim kept on piling in the pressure and scored once again in the very next minute to double their advantage. The goal was scored by Teemu Selanne in the power-play once again from a well placed flick-shot.
The Predators responded with a few strong shots on goal, but they were unable to find the back of the net. In fact, neither of the teams was able to score as the period came to an end with the Ducks leading 2-0. Both teams made 12 shots on goal during the
period.
The Predators successfully cut the lead to a single goal in the fifth minute with Shea Weber scoring during the power-play. However, the Ducks made sure that there was no chance of a come-back as they scored once again in the eighth minute through Bobby
Ryan to restore the advantage.
Getzlaf joined the party as he scored for the Ducks in the 16th minute to extend the lead even further. The period ended with the Ducks leading 4-1 as they made 10 shots on goal while the Predators managed 13 attempts.
The Predators came across a power-play at the start of the final period and they scored in the second minute through Patric Hornqvist. The Predators cut the lead to one with another goal that was scored by Joel Ward from a superb flick-shot in the 11th
minute.
However, it was the Ducks who scored another goal through Bobby Ryan in the final minute of the game to win 5-3 in the end.
