Anaheim Ducks need top players to perform if Playoffs on the radar for next season -NHL Update
Good thing for Anaheim Ducks and fans of the California based team as one of hockey’s best players, Teemu Selanne, decided to play for another season after nearly calling it quits. But will that get Ducks back in the playoffs remains to be the biggest question
left to answer.
The 2012-2013 National Hockey League (NHL) regular season is not far now and all players and fans are quite well aware of that fact. What they need right now is dedication from all top players on their star studded line-up to step up in whichever way possible
and get the Stanley Cup back in Anaheim.
Selanne took some much needed time off this summer and went to Italy for vacationing. After realising that staying out of the game for a long time eventually got boring, the Finnish Flash decided to return with Anaheim Ducks in the NHL, despite a number
of teams trying to fish him in.
''Sometimes, age is just a number,'' Selanne said in a phone interview during his vacation, according to Yahoo.com. ''Age is a funny thing. A lot of times, I don't really feel 42. It's just a number. It all depends on how you feel.''
''I think we're all enjoying this moment right now, and my boys are happy,'' Selanne added. ''My family has been so supportive. It's another season, and they're so excited about it.''
The biggest area of concern for Selanne is knowing that he is 42 years old now, but still, the native of Helsinki, Finland, is confident in his abilities, which certainly shows with an amazing performance last year. In 82 games played, Selanne had 66 points
(26 goals, 40 assists).
"I still feel that I have something to give and that I can still play on this high level," Selanne stated. "Even with the tough first half we had last year, I still enjoyed the game so much."
Throughout history, Teemu Selanne ranks in the top 10 for sure as he has 1,341 games played under his belt, along with 1,406 points (663 goals, 743 assists).
Next season is not only one which Anaheim Ducks are looking forward to but also Teemu Selanne, in what might be last.
