Anaheim Ducks play host to Colorado Avalanche in the fourth and final meeting between them
The second and last game of Sunday will be played at the Honda Center as the Anaheim Ducks play host to the Colorado Avalanche. This will be the fourth and final meeting between the two teams during the course of the season.
Out of the three games that have taken place so far between the two teams during the season, the Ducks have won all three.
The most recent meeting between the two teams on the 11th of March saw the Ducks coming up with best performance in the series and winning the game comfortably 6-2 in the end.
Ducks handed Hawks a 2-1 defeat in their last game and if they are successful in winning the game they would be able to cut the gap between the Kings to just a single point who are in the sixth spot.
With a win, Ducks would not only retain their seventh spot but also give themselves a chance of moving up the standings as they would be looking to avoid the heavyweights of the Western Conference in the play-offs.
Ducks will be under a lot of stress and they will be playing on home ice after six games after which they will be on a road trip once again.
They began their last road trip with a win and a loss against the Dallas Stars and the Nashville while capturing the final game against the Hawks. Corey Perry was the star of the game as he scored both the equalizing and winning goals of the game.
"We're playing together and playing as a line, and that's huge," Perry said of his unit with Ryan Getzlaf and Bobby Ryan, who drew the assists on both his goals. "Early on in the season we were here, we were there and just missing. Now finally we've got
that chemistry and we're rolling with it."
The Ducks have played 75 games during the season so far out of which they have won 42 games in regulation time, five games in overtime to score a total of 89 points.
On the other hand, the Avalanche have played 74 games in the season out of which they have won 28 games in regulation time, eight games in overtime scoring a total of 64 points.
Avalanche will be looking to continue their role as the spoilers in the season as they are out of the play-off picture.
Over the past 28 games, the Avalanche has managed to win only four games in regulation time. The four wins include two wins over the St. Louis Blues, one against the Edmonton Oilers and the other against the Nashville Predators.
Milan Hejduk, goalie of the Avalanche came up with a decent effort in their last game against the Dallas Stars but they lost 4-1 in the end.
"It was a great effort by Matt (Duchene) on the forecheck behind the net," Hejduk said. "Paulie (Paul Stastny) got the puck and found me in front of the net, and I had an easy job to do there.
"But the bottom line is that this is a team sport, and it's hard to enjoy any personal accomplishments. That's the same with me right now. It's hard to enjoy this. Really hard."
