Anaheim Ducks play host to the Minnesota Wild in the fourth and final meeting between the two sides
The final game of Friday will be hosted by the Anaheim Ducks as they play host to the Minnesota Wild.
This will be the fourth and final meeting between the two teams. During the course of the last three games, the Ducks won the second game 6-2.
The Wild won the first game 2-1 in overtime and the most recent game 5-1 with Matt Cullen scoring the winning goal.
Both of the two teams would be facing each other for the second time during this week as they look to climb their way up the Western Conference table which is very tight at the moment.
Dan Ellis is the new addition to the Ducks who will be keeping goal for them. He has played in three games for the Ducks so far during which he has come up with decent performances.
The Wild played their last game against the inform Los Angeles Kings which saw them coming up with a decent performance but they couldn’t be as productive as their counterparts during the night. This resulted in the Kings winning the game 4-2 in the end.
The Wild matched the Kings but the constant threat imposed by their offence proved to be too much for the Wild and they allowed four goals. Though they also had several scoring chances but the shots often went off target.
"Guys played hard all the way to the end," Richards said. "It was a pretty intense, pretty physical game. I'm proud of the way the guys battled. We stuck with it all the way. We just came up a little short."
The Wild have played 61 games during the course of the season out of which they have won 32 games in regulation time, secured a point in six games to score 70 points.
This has put them in the fifth spot in the Western Conference. The Ducks on the other hand has also played 61 games and won 32 games in regulation time.
The Ducks have managed to score a point in four games and scored a total of 68 points which puts them in the 11th spot in the Western Conference.
Jonas Hiller, goalie of the Ducks was one of the most important players in the team. His absence has hurt the Ducks a great deal and with which comes the fact that they have lost their last four consecutive games.
Not only this, but the Ducks who were once a strong team in the league is down to 11th place in the Western Conference and things are looking very tough for them of making it into the play-offs.
Elis played a very important role while coming off the bench on several occasions for the Tampa Bay Lightning about which the general manager says:
"He's carried a team at times, which is the most important thing for me," GM Bob Murray said.
