Anaheim Ducks plays host to St. Louis Blues in the fourth and final meeting between them
The final game of Wednesday will be played at the Honda Center as the home team, Anaheim Ducks, plays host to St. Louis Blues.
This will be the fourth and final meeting between the two teams during the course of the season.
Out of the three games that have already taken place between the two teams during the course of the season, Blues won the first game by 5-1 but Ducks bounced back to win the second game by 7-4.
However, their most recent meeting saw Blues absolutely thrashing Ducks as they won the game by 9-3.
Chris Stewart was in hot form during the game as he looked to be everywhere on ice that day with Andy McDonald scoring the game winning goal.
Both teams are among those teams in the Western Conference that are out of the playoff cut, but Ducks still has a chance of making their way into the cut while Blues look down and out and two more losses can see them bidding farewell to their playoff hopes.
However, they would be looking to wrap up the series which has showered quite a few goals for them.
Blues are starting a four-game road trip and with the recent good form they are hoping for the best.
Out of the last four games that they have played, Blues have managed to win three games and still has an outside and slim chance of making their way into the cut.
They lost their most recent game against Detroit Red Wings this past Saturday which was a very big disappointment.
Blues came back to level the scores on 3-3 but Red Wings managed to score twice with a few minutes of play left to win the game by 5-3 in the end.
"I thought their penalty kill outworked our power play," Blues’ coach, Davis Payne, said. "We didn't make very clean decisions, and in contact situations they won most of them, either physically or with the stick."
Blues have played 60 games during the course of the season out which they have won 31 games in regulation time and nine games in overtime to score a total of 71 points.
On the other hand, Ducks have played 69 games too out which they have won 37 games in regulation time and five games in overtime to score a total of 79 points.
Ducks have been playing quite well as they have won five of their last two games which has enabled them to keep their play-off hopes alive.
However, they lost the game against Phoenix Coyotes by 5-2 this Sunday but if they come up with some decent results they would be able to qualify for the playoffs.
"These points are too important," Ducks’ forward, Todd Marchant, said. "It was a four-point game tonight. We certainly know what is at stake. Having faced it last year, not playing in April and May, we don't want to get there again. It has to start here
on Wednesday."
