Anaheim Ducks replace Coach Randy Carlyle with Bruce Boudreau after big win -NHL Update
The Anaheim Ducks are noticeably on their worst streaks in recent years this 2011-2012 National Hockey League (NHL) regular season, which forced them to ultimately let go of their long time head coach, Randy Carlyle, after winning their first in eight matchups,
Wednesday night, November 30, 2011.
Anaheim had come out happy by getting a big, 4-1, win against the Montreal Canadiens at home in the Honda Center, but bad news was awaiting the Ducks coach for over six seasons as team general manager, Bob Murray, announced via a statement that Randy Carlyle
had been replaced with former Washington Capitals coach, Bruce Boudreau.
"We thank him greatly for his hard work and dedication to our franchise, not the least of which was a Stanley Cup championship. At this time, we simply felt a new voice was needed. Bruce is a proven winner with a great track record, and we are optimistic
we can turn this season around under his leadership", said Anaheim Ducks GM, Bob Murray.
His statement did not come without some sympathy for the coach.
"This was an extremely difficult decision," Murray said in a statement. "Randy is a terrific head coach, and did a tremendous job for us for six-plus seasons.
Along with announcing the news, Murray termed the reason for the firing that which compelled them to bring about change in their team at the coaching level if they were going to get anywhere far this season.
According to GM Murray, Boudreau is someone who is known to win and take his teams to new levels with the record of reaching 200 wins the fastest in the NHL under his belt.
Under his leadership, the Washington Capitals managed to take control of the top position in the Eastern Conference for two consecutive seasons but chocked in the playoffs which resulted in them being eliminated early on in the series.
Randy Carlyle on the other hand was the only coach that took them to a Stanley Cup winning performance back in 2007, which is certainly a noteworthy achievement and will allow him to secure a similar job in the league with ease.
