Anaheim Ducks stays in the playoff cut by winning 4-2 against Calgary Flames – NHL Updates

Calgary Flames hosted the final game of Wednesday at the Scotiabank Saddledome as it tasted a 4-2 defeat at the hands of Anaheim Ducks. The final game of the day saw both teams looking to score the important two points as they were looking to cement their
position in the cut.
Flames is out of the playoff’s picture by a difference of three points while Ducks occupied the final playoff spot with a point between them and the ninth placed Dallas Stars.
The game began with Flames on top at the start and scoring the opening goal. However, Ducks was able to come up with a fighting performance that saw it scoring twice to get into the lead before the period ended.
The second period saw both teams coming up with quite a few shots on goal but it was Ducks that scored the lone goal of the period to get into a comfortable position.
Flames scored the opening goal of the final period to cut the lead to a goal but Ducks scored in the final minute to seal the game by 4-2 in the end.
Corey Perry, Ducks’ winger, was named the star of the game as he scored two goals and came up with an important assist.
Flames began as the stronger of the two teams on the offence and it scored in the third minute through its captain, Jarome Iginla, to get into the lead.
Ducks matched Flames and finally scored in the 9th minute through Bobby Ryan’s brilliant wrap around shot to level the scores.
There were a couple of more shots on goal before Ducks scored once again in the 16th minute through Corey Perry during a power-play to get into the lead. The period ended with Ducks leading 2-1 with both teams making 10 shots on goal each.
The second period was relatively dry in terms of shots on goal for Ducks as Flames dominated the period in the department of offence and defence. Ducks managed to pile up a couple of shots as the period neared its end.
Resultantly, Ducks scored in the 19th minute through Lubomir Visnovsky’s powerful strike to double its lead.
The period ended with Ducks leading 3-1 even though it made just three shots on goal while Flames made 10 shots on goal.
Flames scored in the very first minute of the final period to trail by a single goal. The goal was scored by Mark Giordano from a powerful strike. The middle part of the period dried up in terms of shots on goal but Ducks scored once again in the final minute
of the game to seal the game.
The goal was scored by Corey Perry from a well placed flick shot as Ducks won the game by 4-2.
The final period saw Ducks making 9 shots on goal while Flames made five shots on goal.
