Anaheim Ducks wins 2-1 against St. Louis Blues in the final game of the day in an intense matchup

The final game of Wednesday was played at the Honda Center as Anaheim Ducks played host to St. Louis Blues.
Blues are pretty much out of play-off contention but Ducks needed to come up with a win if they wanted to keep up pace with the teams above them in the Conference table.
The game started on the slower side for both teams but they managed to come up with quite a few shots on goal during the course of the 20 minutes of play. However, none of the shots were able to find the back of net.
The second period saw Blues very strong on the offence at the start and they capitalised from the start and scored. However, Ducks, with the backing of the home crowd, were able to draw level before the end of the period.
The final 20 minutes of play saw Ducks scoring early to get into the lead. The score stood still till the very end as the game ended with Ducks winning by 2-1.
Jason Blake of Ducks was named the star of the game as he scored two goals during the course of the game.
There were almost no shots on goal early on in the period, but things got better with the passage of time and the shots and play making department got better with the passage of time. There were a couple of shots on goal by both teams but none of them found
the back of the net.
The passing and shooting of both teams was absolutely brilliant to watch as they worked their way past the opposing defence. Despite all this none of the shots found the back of the net.
The period ended with the scores level on 0-0 with Blues making 7 shots on goal during the period while Ducks made 8 shots on goal.
The second period saw both teams coming up with a strong offensive play which saw Blues dominating the game early on.
They successfully scored in the 10th minute through Nathan Oystrick’s well placed flick shot to get into the lead.
Ducks were able to bounce back with some decent plays and scored in the 12th minute through Jason Blake’s brilliant backhand shot to level the scores. The period saw Blues coming across a lot of shots on goal but they weren’t able to score.
The period ended with the scores level on 1-1. During the course of the period, Ducks made 9 shots on goal while Blues made 14 shots on goal.
The final period saw Blues making 10 shots on goal while Ducks made 7 shots on goal but it was Ducks who scored the lone goal of the period to win the game.
The goal was scored by Jason Blake in the second minute through a brilliant shot which went flying into the back of the net and Ducks won the game 2-1.
