Anaheim Ducks wins 6-2 against Colorado Avalanche at Colorado's home ice in the struggle to make it to the playoffs
The Pepsi Center was the venue which hosted the final game of Friday with Colorado Avalanche playing host to Anaheim Ducks.
The game was important for Ducks as they needed to score important points in their search for a play-off spot while Avalanche are out of contention for the playoffs but a win for them would definitely would be morale boosting.
Both teams made a decent start but it was Avalanche who scored the all important lone goal in the first period to get into the lead.
Ducks were able to come up with some strong plays in the second period which saw them scoring four times during the period while Avalanche scored once.
The final period saw Ducks scoring two more goals and the game ended with Ducks winning the game 6-2 in the end.
Ryan Getzlaf of Ducks was named the star of the game as he scored a goal and came up with two important assists.
Ducks made a couple of shots on goal as the game started. Their passing, shooting and defence was very entertaining and superb.
Avalanche, on the other hand, was just waiting at the early stages of the game for spaces to develop.
Avalanche stepped up their game with the passage of time and started to create goal scoring opportunities for themselves. Avalanche successfully took the lead with a goal in the final minute. The goal was scored by Ryan O’Reilly from a well placed flick
shot.
The period ended with Avalanche leading 1-0 as they made 12 shots during the period while Ducks made 8 shots on goal.
The second period saw Ducks starting off in spectacular fashion as they scored in the very first minute to level the scores. The goal was scored by Saku Koivu from a decent strike.
Ducks kept on piling the pressure on the opposing team and scored once again in the fourth minute to get into the lead.
The goal was scored by Ryan Getzlaf during power play from a flick shot.
Avalanche responded with a few shots and scored in the very next minute through David Jones to level the scores once again.
However, Ducks were on fire as they scored once again in the 6th minute through Corey Perry to get back into the lead once again.
Ducks completed the dominating performance during the period with another goal in the 11th minute which was scored by Dan Sexton. The period ended with the Ducks leading 4-2.
The final period saw Ducks scoring once again in the 10th minute through Bobby Ryan and once again in the 13th minute through Brad Winchester from a flick shot to seal the win for Ducks.
The period and the game ended with Ducks winning the game 6-2 in the end.
