Question:

Analog TV Conversion?

I have a antenna on my roof. The electrican wired it so that both my antenna and Directv signal comes through the same cable. Since I have 5 Tvs, is there any device available that will convert the signal before the split rather than having to buy 5 converter boxes? I don't want to get the local stations through Directv because they don't include all my local stations and I don't want to pay the monthly charges.

  1. you do realize that there are splitters you can use.

you just plug the wire from your wall into the IN end and it splits it to the 8 other outputs. it's just a lot of work to wire it through your house yourself and staple down the wires on the inside of your house. i know how you feel about having so many converter boxes though because my husband and i had to downgrade with all our boxes.

  2. I assume from your question that your five TVs only have analog tuners.

The converter boxes only convert one channel at a time. You have to set that channel on the converter.

So unless you want to watch the same channel on all five TVs, you need separate converters or recorders with ATSC tuners.
