Anand Pawar crashes out of Men’s Singles qualifying round in 2012 Yonex French Badminton Open
It was not one of Anand Pawar’s best days as he had to face an early exit from Yonex French Badminton Open despite of putting an extra effort in the qualifying round match on October 23, 2012.
The budding Indian shuttler lost to Suppanyu Avihingsanon of Thailand and flew back home with a heavy heart.
Though, Anand played his heart out for one hour and 22 minutes but the final figures of 21-16, 24-26 and 29-30 led him to a woeful exit.
However, the local badminton lovers of Paris gave him a big round of applause for entertaining them with a splendid show of skills.
Anand Pawar kick-started his campaign in a perfect manner as he ruled the court in first set and claimed the opening match point with distinction.
He laid foundation of his dominance by piling up a decent total of 5 in no time and then doubled the impact with a respectable score position of 11 before interval.
After the mid-game break, he gathered some pace and widened the gap by putting 15-11 margin on the board.
The Indian campaigner carried this flow until game point situation and placed a winning figure of 21-16.
Next game proved a real test of both players mental and physical strength as they put all in their possession to tip the scale in their favour.
Initially, Anand relished full benefits of his first set win and enjoyed the upper hand until 9-4 but then the opposing shuttler showed a transformed character and changed the scenario.
Suppanyu Avihingsanon employed all of his brilliance in the game and came out of his competitor’s influence in third quarter of the set.
He played with a cautious approach which resulted in a tight margin of 23-23. The Thai player did not lose nerve in this pressure situation and managed to register an overwhelming score of 26-24.
The decider became consequential as both shuttlers were standing equal and there was no margin of error.
Third set certainly was best part of the match as there were five occasions when both contenders reached at game point but they could not capitalise this situation.
Finally, this nerve-racking tussle ended when Anand Pawar surrendered after reading 30-29 total.
