Anand Pawar crushes Kento Momota in Men’s Singles qualifying round of 2011 Japan Open Super Series
India’s spirited player, Anand Pawar crushed Japan’s lower ranked shuttler, Kento Momota in the Men’s Singles qualifying round of the 2011 Japan Open Super Series, in Tokyo, Japan, on September 20.
Pawar is presently placed at the Number 54 position in world rankings of Men’s Singles. The Indian played to his full potential and left no room for his Japanese opponent to put up any sort of resistance in the encounter. He finished-off the match in straight
games with a decent difference by taking just 30 minutes.
The Indian entered into the court with an aggressive approach and played to his maximum speed which earned him the driving seat in the match. He dictated the pace of the rallies and pushed his rival in all corners of the court. Momota failed to play at the
level of the Indian, who was progressing ahead in the first game with a fast pace.
Pawar was employing his wonderful defensive skills coupled with tumbling net strokes, which helped him in grabbing the opening set in just 14 minutes with the decent score of 21-16.
In the second set of this interesting qualifying-round fight, Momota played well in the starting points by playing aggressive badminton but failed to continue it as the Indian started to keep the bird low by hitting parallel strokes. The control of the Indian
over the rallies was incredible as he played cross-court defensive strokes which disturbed the movement of his opponent.
The powerful smashes and dominating play at the net kept the Japanese shuttler under pressure. Momota employed many strategies but all of his plans failed against the in-form Pawar, who was flying in the court with his incredibly quick reflexes. The higher
ranked Indian remained ahead of his challenger in the concluding phase and finished the second set with a four-point gap of 21-17, in just 16 minutes.
After a one-sided battle, this Men’s Singles qualifying-round contest finished in the favour of Pawar with a 21-16 and 21-17 score on the board.
