Anarchists? Why were they called anarchists?

Its about the riot/protest to the RNC, the ones rioting are called anarchists, but if they were anarchists wouldn't they of protested the DNC as well. Unless all anarchist means here is anti-Bush, then that would include more people.

I think this is a term to try to hide the fact that the source of violence came from the Democrats. I'm glad that a few of the older democrats are embarrassed by this, and that they agree the riots are a negative thing, for their image and how issues should be handled.

What do you guys think?

A true Anarchist would indead riot at both conventions so I think you do have a point that they get called that to hide the fact that they are dems

They were anarchists because they weren't part of the organized peaceful protest.

They are just a bunch of kids that were acting out, and committing crimes.

I know you would love nothing more than to paint every last one of them as Democrats.....but that's just not the case.

50 people out of several thousand is hardly representative of the entire group.

btw- this same group was at the DNC too..

They protested at the DNC too, just far less came.  They view the Republican party as more intrusive into our everyday lives (kinda ironic since they are the ones that are supposed to advocate LESS government, but gave more governmental powers under Bush.  See Patriot Act).

They SAY they favor no political authority.  In fact, they are (by in large) young, bored, clueless folls bent on destruction.  They are usually people who rely most heavily on the government.  Odd isn't it?

Excellent point--anarchists oppose all government, so they should by rights also have been present in Denver.

I don't think it's correct to say that the violence came from Democrats, though.  at least I've not heard any evidence to support that allegation.

What is very troubling is the trend in Minnesota and elsewhere of raiding houses where dissident organizers live and detaining and/or arresting people who hadn't actually committed any crimes.  The local law enforcement authorities were involved in this, along with the FBI.

Seems like an infringement of First Amendment guarantees to me...

Democrats believe in the political process and are focused on winning the election.

There were thousands of Protesters at the democratic convention.

Anarchism is a political philosophy encompassing theories and attitudes which support the elimination of all compulsory government.

Yet, they are protesting the Republicans that also want a small government, not big brother government intervention.  They use the war in Iraq as an excuse for being home style terrorists.  If you were in the cyber world long enough, you will see the "poser" communists and extremists infiltrating the youth with their anarchy ideas.
