Anastasia Chervyakova claims Women’s Singles title at European Universities Games 2012
Russia’s Anastasia Chervyakova lived up to expectations as she claimed Women’s Singles title after slaughtering her lower ranked opponent Oznur Caliskan of Turkey at the title match of European Universities Games-Badminton Individual Tournament 2012 on Tuesday,
July 17, in Spain.
The in-form Chervyakova, who was seeded at number two in main draw of Women’s Singles category in the championship, played at her best and remained successful in grabbing the crown in a dominating way.
It was just a 32-minute battle but in this short match Chervyakova displayed all of her skills to impress the crowd with her top quality skills as she ended up the contest in straight sets with a convincing margin.
The un-seeded Caliskan, in contrast, failed to continued her giant killing run on court as she failed to take any advantage of her impressive craft against her higher ranked Russian opponent and bowed down to her without stamping her mark.
Chervyakova started her run in first game of the final battle with wonderful confidence as she played to her maximum speed and managed a stunning lead against her nervous opponent until the mid-game interval.
After the one-minute interval, the Turkish lady changed her tactics and played with aggression but failed to disturb the flow of her rival and remained struggling.
In the meanwhile, Chervyakova remained on track without showing any confusion as she was focused on court and remained successful in taking the opening game with a striking 21-13 margin on the score board.
In the following set, Caliskan tried to play fast and positive badminton in starting points but failed to shake the confidence of her higher ranked challenger.
The in-form Chervyakova was calm and composed in her temperament on court and played at her maximum speed to keep a wonderful difference on score board until the end of opening half.
After the mid-game interval, Chervyakova continued showing her hard-to-learn craft while remaining positive on court and snatched the second game in a lopsided manner with a huge margin of 21-9.
The second seeded Chervyakova emerged as victorious in this title match in straight games with a 21-13 and 21-9 score on the board.
